Planning a trip to Norway

Norway is a vast country with a population of just 4.8 million, which equates to around 12 people per square kilometre. While exploring the countryside you can often feel like you have it all to yourself, with an exhilarating feeling of space, whether you travel in winter or summer.

Norway offers the magic of the Arctic coast in winter. Witness humpback whales and orcas feeding in the fjords, gaze at the aurora from the deck of a ship, enjoy the contrast of an Arctic city with northern lights hunting in the wilderness. Our properties, from stylish resorts to remote guesthouses, offer exhilarating winter activities – slip on snowshoes, hop on a snowmobile or mush a team of huskies.

Norway is equally breathtaking during summer. As the days get longer – with the midnight sun visible from mid-May to late July at the North Cape – you can really take your time to explore Norway’s dramatic landscapes. Our summer holidays include self-drives and hiking adventures, opportunities to travel on local ferries and railways, exciting activities from kayaking to whale watching, and places to stay that are full of character.

Hurtigruten Coastal Voyages

One of the most recognised brands in Norway, Hurtigruten refers to the traditional coastal route taken by working steamers from Bergen in the south fjords to the North Cape at the top of Finnmark, Norway’s most northerly region.

Though still a trading route, such is the magnificence of the scenery that cruise holidays have become the most popular way for visitors to experience the iconic coastline. Sailing year-round, choose to experience the midnight sun in summer or watch out for the aurora in winter. The Hurtigruten fleet consists of 13 ships, with itineraries ranging from five to eleven nights.
